The Iowa Utility Association, or IUA, was formed in 1971 to develop, organize and promote improvement in the common business interests and conditions of Iowa’s investor-owned electric and natural gas public utilities. Prior to the formation of the IUA and dating back to the mid-1940s, there had been an informal working relationship among investor-owned utilities to address statewide programs and industry issues.
